KULTURBAHN will be a creative camp and a four-day event in June 2012 that will animate an abandoned amusement park located in Treptower Park, East Berlin.

KULTURBAHN will activate the park as a public playground, bringing together Berlin-born or Berlin-based creatives to explore the park’s histories, presences, and most importantly—possible futures.  Projects will respond to the park’s landscape, material resources, and political ideologies to model sustainable creative practices and propose a new future for kulturparks.

KULTURBAHN is led by MUSEMENT, a team of 5 US-based producers who bring artistic, curatorial, design, and scholarly research to the team. Musement has been researching this site and building the project since receiving a US-based grant from the ArtMatters Foundation in 2010.  Musement is currently developing partnerships with participants, sponsors, and funders including The DeLa Cruz collection, Pratt University, Independent Curators International, and the Andy Warhol Foundation.  Kulturbahn was recently featured in the NY TIMES, ARTINFO, and the HUFFINGTON POST.
